A Successful UTC 2016 for Engage

Engage was thrilled to meet with Utility representatives at the UTC 2016 show.
Engage UTC Booth

Numerous people stopped by our Engage “Bunker” booth to learn more about the impending end of Telco’s leased lines and how Utilities can transition.

We brought an awareness of what the future of TDM communication will soon be and how it will drastically change due to the upcoming IP migration. We found that many of the people from large utility companies and cooperatives are facing the same common dilemma. We then presented them a cost effective way to painlessly transition to Ethernet-based communications.

The Engage IP Tube allows organizaitons to preserve their legacy equipment by converting analog circuits to IP/Ehternet based backhaul. Visitors to our booth were very enthusiastic to find a company that can support their unique forms of communication. The IP Tube supports numerous interfaces including: 4-Wire Analog, Bell 202T, T1 full or fractional, RS232. It also provides a cryptography option for mission critical circuits within a network.

With the end of leased telecom circuits comes the end of reasonably proven, reliable data circuits that Utilities have depended on for decades for operational data and control. According to the UTC white paper,IP Network TransitionsAT&T currently only has to give 120 days notice to discontinue a service and the IP transition is set to be complete in 2020. This gives Utilities a very small window of time to transition their network operations.

“Utilities expose themselves to substantial risk when they continue to rely on Telco’s existing circuits,” says the UTC white paper.

We will be participating in the next UTC show in 2017, as the 2020 deadline approaches for Utilities to transition from Telco’s leased lines.
